MAKE AID WORK. THE WORLD CAN’T WAIT

Campaign promoted by CIDSE and Caritas Internationalis

In 2005, following a worldwide call to Make Poverty History, the G8* governments historically promised to increase the aid and debt relief that they give to poor countries. They must now keep to their promise

This means ensuring that all aid promised must be delivered in a predictable and transparent manner, that it is not linked to the imposition of harmful donor policies and that people in developing countries have a say in how it needs to be spent

 As part of the Global Call to Action against Poverty, citizens all over the globe will call upon their leaders to step up their efforts in fighting poverty and achieving the Milenium Development Goals;

Join this campaign. More information on www.make-aid-work.org

Christmas holidays are approaching. It is the time of little gifts for those who are close to us.

Mijarc wants to reinforce its solidarity fund. We think that selling of handicrafts produced by our member movements could be a good idea. We have elaborated a brochure with different objects. It will allow to strengthen local economies in the south, helping to promote the solidarity fund and you have presents with a special value.

Youth Organisations appeal to stand up against poverty!

Six years ago in the great Jubilee year of 2000, world leaders from 189 countries met at the United Nations and agreed to end poverty and achieve the Millennium Development Goals by 2015. On October 15th and 16th, people across the world will stand up to remind them of this promise and to witness that another world is possible. Join us as we set the Guinness World Record for the most people standing up against poverty. Together we can end extreme poverty! Call for Day of Action and Mobilisation - January 26th 2008

We are millions of women and men,
organisations, networks, movements, trade unions from all parts of the world,
we come from villages, regions, rural zones, urban centres,
we are of all ages, peoples, cultures, beliefs,
but we are united by the strong conviction that

ANOTHER WORLD IS POSSIBLE

With all the richness of our plurality and diversity and our alternatives and proposals, we struggle against neo-liberalism, war, colonialism, racism and patriarchy which produce violence, exploitation, exclusion, poverty, hunger and ecological disaster and deprive people of human rights.

For many years we have been resisting and constructing innovative processes, new cultures of organization and action from the local to the global, in particular within the processes and Charter of Principle of the World Social Forum from which this call emerges.

Aware of the need to set our own agenda and to increase the impact of these thousands of expressions and manifestations, we are committed to strengthening the solidarity and convergence amongst our struggles, campaigns, and constructions of alternatives and alliances.

We commit ourselves to a week of action which will culminate in a Global Day of Mobilisation and Action on January 26

With our diversity which is our strength, we invite all men and women to undertake throughout this week creative actions, activities, events and convergences focusing on the issues and expressed in the ways they choose.

ACT TOGETHER FOR ANOTHER WORLD!

Visit the website http://www.wsf2008.net/ to sign the call, read a short history on the day of mobilisation and global action and know how to take part in its preparation
